All aspects of the Earth System are subject to natural variability and change forced by our industrial activities. To help society adapting to ongoing and future changes it is of crucial importance to robustly characterize changes in observed and simulated environmental data in order to better understand the underlying mechanisms. Two main areas of research are focusing on climate variability and change and impacts in marine ecosystems.
